leaking master cylinder
« on: April 25, 2008, 10:11:23 AM »

I just replaced my leaking master cylinder with a new one on my 69 Dart. It has the new seal on the pedal pushrod , yet still leaks out the back and all over the firewall. Did I forget something? Im baffled.Any ideas?

Sounds like your new master is defective. Also the boot that goes over the pedal push rod and on the back of the master is there to keep dirt out of the bore of the master when the pedal is depressed, not to keep the brake fluid in.

Did you bench bleed it before you put it on? And if you did, did it leak then or was it just not noticed. Sounds defective like 68s said.
