I have not tore into this yet but it appears to me that after relocating the springs the stock gas tank would need to be replaced by a smaller tank or fuel cell. I notice other people are using their old tank so maybe somebody could help me out. Thanks in advance!!!

I've run into this exact problem too. Yes you can use the tank but your tailpipes will need some creative re-routing. This is what I'm gonna do. I think this car belongs to someone on this site, Thanks for the idea

I moved my springs in and used the stock tank. No room for 3" exhaust, I will have mine turn down in front of the rear end.

i had to push the tank all the way over to the drivers side and the springs still rubbed just a little, i folded the seam egde up just a little and everything cleard, the exhaust was tight on the pass side but there was all sorts of room on the drivers

I mini tubbed a 62 Valiant and used the stock tank with a modification. I had the tank cut down 1 inch on the passenger side and pipes work great. I wouldn't recommend what I did though unless you can weld. Too expensive. I will go in front of the rear end on my next one.

I have the same questions and on top of that I have a 67, they used a single tank strap going from outside the frame to the other frame rail. I'm going to have to fab up some strap brackets and J-bolt keepers and weld them to the shock crossmember and spare tire-well. Then buy 68 or 69 straps. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to do all that yet. I don't have anybody in the area with a 68 or 69 dart to copy, but thanks to I have lots of pics to look at.

they do go out of the car in front of the rear wheels. Uses a special mufler, with inlet and outlet paralel, and in the same end of the muffler, the tube that came from the engine enters the muffler and the exits goes frontwards and makes a turn to the outter side of the car.
