UPPER CONTROL ARM AND SPINDLE INFO NEEDED!
« on: April 27, 2008, 07:51:47 PM »

Hey guys i just bought a 74 dodge dart sport parts car ( Left front frame rail really rotted bad) the car has a slant 6 and manual drum brakes in the front.... Here'e my questions maybe some body can guide me.... are the spindles and upper control arms the same as a disc brake spindle and upper control arms (big ball joint) .  befor i waste time  taking these off to find out they wont work.  hammer i want to do a disc brake conversion on my 69. thanks for your time  Mike

Quickest way to check - if it's the big balljoint, the nut will take a 7/8" wrench. If it's smaller than that, it's the small balljoint. I would venture a guess that a slant 6 car will still have the small bolt pattern wheels and the small upper balljoints... I could be wrong though.

The spindles are not the right ones. As for the uppers, check the castle nut on the ball joint if it's 7/8" then they are the ones you would need. If they are 3/4" then no.
