Looking for drive shaft hoop
« on: May 02, 2008, 12:25:40 AM »

A while back I found a website of a company that produced some unrelated items for GMs or Fords, but also offered one piece drive shaft hoops for Mopars.   These had a one piece loop with horizontal side pieces welded on that reach out and bolt to the floor.  I prefer that design over the one I've seen that bolts to the trans crossmember.

I want to buy one now and although I thought I saved the website, I can't find it now.   Does this design and supplier sound familiar to anyone.   Can't remember how I stumbled upon the website.   Not sure if it was through bbd sign site or not.   Can anyone help me out?

Thanks for the reply Jack.

Well, similar in that it's all welded up as one piece.   It was basically an oval loop with a flat piece coming off each side.   Real simple and stout.   They had one for A bodies, B's and E's.   Everything else the company made was totally unrelated to Mopar, so I was quite surprised when I found them.   Don't remember where to look...  Damn!   Frustrated

I think we got the one from summit that you bolt the loop together then bolt the hole thing to floor, it is heavy duty and worked out good.

Capt Jack,
Wow, that's almost it.   The one I wanted was pretty much like that, but it was oval shaped instead of round.   Figure the oval would give me a little more room for movement in suspension, rake of car, etc.   If I can't find the oval one, this one you posted is REAL NICE and pretty much the same price.  Thanks again...

Why not fabricate one?
Its not bad bending 1/4 X 2" flat bar.

Scott,
On something like a hoop, I'd rather buy one already made and powder coated.   For the price, I'd have way more into it with my time, materials and powdercoating than what you can buy one for.   Plus, I'm limiting my time and attention to the things I WANT to or HAVE to do on my car...

John has some for A-body. I like his design better than the ones that have been posted so far.

Flat bar doesn't cost very much, and powder coating is over rated.. I used do do it as a job many years ago.
To me $60.00 or so for something that simple is ridicolous.
I can understand though if you don't have the time or tools to do it .
It was a suggestion so you could have what you wanted..

By doing it yourself you can even modify it to do what you want it to. I modified mine to allow me to remove the bottom half without removing it completely for what ever maintenance need doing.
