Whats a good home sandblaster that actualy works? Most of the blasting is for rust and paint removal. and gen use.

I've had good luck with the cheap harbor freight gun, but you need to run fine particles (all I've used is sand).

I have seen the one at HF and was thinking about them. It said that you cant use sand. Is it BC it will hurt the gun or is it BC its bad for your helth.

Probably bad for your health. I'm talking about the $20 gun. I have not used one of the pressurized pot ones, but it would be nice.

Yeah, the sand works great, and is cheap, and it doesn't matter if it gets all over your back yard. They advise you not to use it because of the health risks. Wear respiratory protection. I also use the harbor freight blaster. It works for me, but is fussy. It would work much better if I would just go and buy a damn in-line water filter/water collector thingy to keep the sand dry.

Its been my experience with sand blasting equipment that you definitely get what you pay for. Trust me, when its 90 degrees out and you have long sleeves, gloves and hood on you want that bad boy to work as well as possible.I have been told that you want to stay away from sand unless you are using breathing protection. Air born silicate is NO GOOD for you!! What ever media that you use must be dry. Play sand from Toys-R-Us has to much moisture in it. You can use it but it needs to be spread out on a piece of plywood so that it can dry. Its a pain in the butt.

If you do use a pressurized blaster( like in the picture ) , it needs a good size compressor. I have used this blaster with a 5 hp 60 gal 2 stage compressor but its all it wants. You have to let the compressor catch up, For small jobs its not so bad but for bigger jobs a more substatial compressor makes life easier. (Think long sleeves, gloves, hood, breathing protection 90 degrees !)

All said and done I don't think that you can beat a sand blaster for rust removal. Stay away from body panels!!!! You will warp them and cause major damage if you are not real, real careful. Its not worth the chance in my opinion.

If you buy sand in a paper bag, its bone dry. It's near the concrete in home improvement stores. If you buy sand in a plastic bag, it will be wet like BigSlim said. Wet sand will make you want to shoot yourself.

My next one will be the soda blaster from Eastwood, you can buy a kit to make it a sand blaster for a few more bucks. Trucks blasted a hood with it a few weeks ago, they used a water stream to keep the dust down. That was a good idea.

I have a 7hp 2 stage 60gal comp, 13.5 cfm at 90psi and 15.5cfm at 40psi. Will ths do it.

Oh yeah, thats plenty.

I use a Clark pressurized tank sandblaster from tractor supply. It works very well with white play sand from a hardware store. Youi have to make sure you are buying the dry white sand. It cheap. You can use it over at least once if you want to. The biggest problem everyone has trouble with is wet air. You need to have air dryers. I use the same filters and dryer, I use to paint with.
