anybody using the mopar performance cast aluminum black valve covers ? just got mine from summit and one was damaged.
I am little disapointed in the quality and may just return. Also having to screw the baffle into the valve cover
for the pcv doesnt seem safe . What do you guys think of them ? Thanks

I have had mine for many years and like them.....I did crack a corner of mine years ago but the jb weld has held up very well. Loctite in the baffle screws...I've never had one back out.

Whats the best way to punch/make the hole for the pcv ?

Use a punch. It will pop out just fine. CLean it up with a die grinder.

Careful tightening them down. They will crack easy if you do not take care in this. Otherwise, I have no problems with them. |

Careful tightening them down. They will crack easy if you do not take care in this. Otherwise, I have no problems with them. I've heard of this happening ... ALOT! I got a set of unmarked Indy valve covers just for their thickness in the bolt areas. I had to "adjust" the angle of the holes for the Eddy heads' studs but that was simple enough. Plus the smooth surface allows you to add whatever you like. Also, for any valve cover holes, I highly recommend using a die grinder to complete the hole so you get a better seal on whatever you are trying to put in. This way you can taylor the hole to whatever size YOU need and not what they THOUGHT you need. |

I've got a pair and I don't like them either. The first set came damaged also, from a Dealer. I didn't install the baffles because the screws scared me too, no problems yet. I wish I had bought some better covers now , like some of the fabricated looking ones with thicker bolt hole areas. I use 1/4 drive sockets to tighten them because they are so thin there.

I like mine, i try to not overtorque them (more so i dont squish the gasket out the side) and ive never had a problem. IMHO they look especially nice if you strip them and paint them to match the rest of the motor.  |
