wiw 1968 dart H code
« on: May 07, 2008, 11:54:39 AM »

First off let me say this is not a for sale ad, i just would like to know a ball park value of my car as it sits in it's present condition and also maybe after a restoration, figured you guys at  bbd sign  could help me out.  now a little about the car.  1968  383 4 speed 3.23 suregrip. engine is not matching numbers but is a correct a-body 383 missing exhaust manifolds and correct carb.needs rebuilt, all other running gear is matching #'s.
the body has been sitting since 1978, floors have minor pinholes, trunk is great still has paint on it no frame rot, front fenderwells have been cut for headers Frustrated rear quarters have lower rust showing, doors and front fenders are nice, the hood is nice on the outside but has rust holes in  the latch area. interior is all there but would need to be redone has buckets no console, nice dashpad, the trim on the car is awsome, it was removed when the car was parked and stored inside. taillight bezels, gts hood trim ect is great. the front grille is mint looks better than nos as do the headlight bezels. the tail panel is there but is not in very good shape, has been pushed in and has some scratches.  i have the fender tag and vin but no build sheet. any  input would be great thanks

I'm looking at Hemmings, June 2007 guide, on page 29.

They list a 1968 Dart GTS, 383/4-speed at:

Low: $11,000

Average: $19,500

High: $30,500

Hope this helps.

It's really hard to tell without pics, but any car that is a part is a crapshoot, at best. As it sits, you'd probably be hardpressed to get $7,500 for it. Done correctly it should be near $40k or so. Don't go by what Hemmings says. They couldn't even get the facts straight in their article.

agree In current condition and with the amount of work needed to complete restoration. With No #s matching drivetrain. IMO $5,000.00 - $6,500.00

Thanks guys, I realize that without pictures it would be a shot in the dark, and i have it packed away so getting some would be difficult.  I'm just trying to make up my mind if i want to fix my projects or sell them and buy something finished. Dunno  I think i'm suffering from project burnout explode

I don't think I've ever really suffered from project burnout because the garage is where I relax. I'm under no time pressure, but I do have an idea of how long it will be before I make certain progress. I spent this whole past weekend out in the garage working on my Barracuda convertible and formulating a plan. I also walk away when I need to. I've also been doing this for thirty years with much of the same pattern.

My GTS or my LeBaron will be next or simultaneous, if I manage to move to some place with more room. I don't want to do the GTS until I have a clean, dry, and secure place to park it. So it sits.

I solved my 'project burnout' by taking on another project.

I'll be un-burnt on the Duster project eventually and return to it off and on Im sure (and its still driveable/raceable/fun)..in the meantime, I can begin researching what the plan is for the Coronet.

my two cents
