Need to Replace Oil Pump....Not Enough clearance to Remove
« on: May 12, 2008, 09:40:30 AM »

The oil pump hits into the K-Member at 3/8" out.  If I can raise the drivers side (or whole engine) I can do it. When I  R & R'd my TTi headers both sides on the engine raised easy. Now It won't raise at all. Torque Arm unhooked, both motor mounts unbolted (rubber insulators, not the brackets).  Anybody know what's holding it? The only other thing I had disconnected were the collectors to exhaust.

Any suggestions?

those headers wrap around under the torsion bars and are real close to the steering arms, they will probably need to be loosened from the heads.

can you take the pump cover off first, Then you might have enough room to get the rest out.?

I had some success by dropping the trans mount, supporting with a trolley jack and also undoing your drivers side mount.

Bugger of a job!

Can you loosen the Kframe bolts and let it hang down a little?

If you run a scatter shield i'd bet it's hitting the floor boards.
