Topic: The cost of a voltage spike (Read 243 times)

As some of you might know I had electrical problems at the Branson (MECCA) show. It spiked and took out my Pertronics Second Strike box and matching billet distributor, my Viper alarm system, a Sony 180 watt amp and all the light bulbs on the exterior except the front blinker bulbs. I made it back to Denver after buying a stock re-built dizzy from Advance for $48.00. A costly lesson to say the least. Does anyone make a voltage limiter that will sense when it exceeds 15V and instantly shut down the field windings?

Its Possible to build one, I built one for 5v before to clamp a MAP sensor. You will have to search the internet though, I can't remember where I found it.

constant output voltage regulator-(quote from parts book) to insure your ignition and electrical systems can provide maximum performance, install a COVR. voltage is held at a constant 13.5 volts as opposed to the production regulaters fluctuation from 11.5 to 13.5. for race applications only P3690731-70 and up P3690732-69 and older cant guarantee anything just an option
