Ordered parts today...
« on: May 13, 2008, 02:24:25 PM »

My new 408 kit should be here in about 2 weeks. !nanr  Got the Scat internal balanced kit from Summit.  Cam bearings, freeze plugs, and new main cap bolts are on their way.  Enough to get the short block done for now.   I'm sure I'll have lots of questions before this build is done.

I'm planning on getting the eddy's once I get the money together.  But for now I've got the stock heads.

If I ever have to go through my 360 in my truck I want to stroke it for more pulling power. Since it's internally balanced, what harmonic balancer is used? Or does it come with one? And, what pulleys would be used?

318/340 stule balancer i believe.  i have a sfi balancer that has a removable wieght for an internal balance motor.  and the pullies i'm just gonna use the 360 ones i have been using..  if i run into any problems or need special parts i will post it.

Same for me.  I'm going to use the pulley's that I have already, but I'll need to get a new balancer.  There's almost 20 different ones for an internally balanced 360 on Summit.  The one that I like is made by Scat, and flatlander has it right now for $89.  It's listed for a 318/340/360, so I'm assuming it's for an internal balance, but it doesn't really say.  Nice looking piece, with big easy to read timing marks, for not much money.  But I've never used them.

..i got three sbd engines{two 340  1 360 based}...  on the stands right now  using scat strocker kits.....so if ya got any questions feel free....oh  and i just finished buttoning the pan up on one...if your gona use a windage tray prepared to do a bunch of clearencing ...and make sure you check that you have hn{narrow groove}.rod.bearings  or be prepared to chamfer the bearings to clear the radius on the  rod journals

i like that balancer.   probably has a weight that can be installed for an externally balanced motor.

other then that yah  everything measured real nice  and again the 4 inch crank fit in   the 4.080  over 340 block without any clearencing at all.......and if they send you std P bearings  you will have to chamfer the bearing a hole bunch...but not  with  the HN series...
