...on.0.125 steel midplate.... has anyone used one without adding a flexplate spacer or shims to make up the variance?

i reckon when you order your convertor you're suppose to tell them you're using a midplate.

I have a midplate and had the converter neck made longer. Don't know about using spacers , I would talk to the comapny that made the converter to see what they think.

I'd imagine some hardened washers - as wide as possible would do the trick.

Somebody sells a steel shim between the crank and flex plate, but I forgot who.

I always use hard washers to shim the converter . You want the snout to set as deep into the pump as possible.

My CE midplate came with both 6 and 8 bolt spacers.

humm thanks guys. .... that's what i had figured.....when i originally mocked the engine up in the car i had welded on spacers to the flexplate but then i ended up getting a diferent flexplate...i just didn't like the idea of having loose shims behind so much hp...so i think i'm just gona weld some new ones onto the converter.....

push the converter into the trans all the way, measure the distance, subtract .187 (3/16) then shim as needed. I use hardened washers to make up any space.
