I'm finally getting around to building my 440 for the duster. I'd like to use a mild stroker kit from 440 source, but are the cranks compatible w/ a manual tranny? what I have is an A833 Hemi 4 speed. will I be able to bolt this up w/out having to cut down the input shaft? also does anyone have suggestions on a cam and fuel delivery to make this beast survive on 87 or at the most mid grade?

I have a 512 build on the engine stand now. The crank appears to be drilled and machined to accept a 4 speed but there is no pilot bushing in it.

what I have to work w/ is a 440 block, So I'm thinking of going w/ the 500" kit. my car was originally a 4 speed car, so I want to keep it that way. besides, when I get out of the big truck it's kind of odd not having that extra peddle and a place for your right hand. I think its more fun to shift them yourself for behind the trans I have an 8.75 rear w/ 3.23 open gears......might put a posi in it. as far as the pilot bearing, as long as it is machined to accept one putting one in shouldn't be that hard. so if I want to run on pump gas I should keep it under 9.5:1? should I order a set of stealth heads when I get the stroker kit?

Lets see, 13 speed or 10 speed versus a 4-speed in a car. Missin a few gears there are you! 4 gear sounds very nice and the weight savings of using all the aluminum you can. It will be hard to keep the monster hooked to the pavement.

so I might need some counter weight in the rear. the big truck is a freightliner columbia w/ a series 60 detroit and a 10 speed box. 3.70 rear gear, and 455 hp at 1800 rpm's, 515 hp at 2100 rpm's. don't know what the 440 will net, but it will probably never see more then 3500rpms.

it may have fewer gears, but at least it won't be governed at 65
