I guess I'll finally reply, I personnaly like the Hemi scoops, I'm going to have one on mine, maybe. My dad had to get away from it like big cube, but his was a height problem, the back carb was only about an inch from the scoop, that's why he has the snorkel, although we never had problems with the air in it, but we also don't run air cleaners, the air has free flow in the carbs and down around the engine. I do however agree with a lot of you guys in saying, big cubes' looks awesome with the cowl. I do also agree, it isn't really a Mopar scoop either.

JamesDart, if it drive you nuts, you're taking it WAY too seriously! For me, the 6Pack scoop represents Mopar, regardless of what body style it came on. The cowl hood (to ME) represents Chevy. Some of us just like to keep it in the family.

Jamesdart, Your buddy "couldn't stand it" (6pack hood) ? What's that about? Why such strong reaction to this hood? Are we talking about more super fast cars here that are trying to blow the hood off?
My hood is hinged and I'll probably run the stock latch in the middle with a pin in each front corner. If I run 100-115 in the quarter, will I be having problems with this combo?

I think to work correctly the cowl should be 1 1/2 inch's from the windshield.

You guys make me feel so old sometimes ! I remember back in the early 70s (help me out --I'm not the oldest here!) The only cowl hoods around were Chevelles & Corvettes . Didn't they call it "cowl induction" . ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) As I remember the corvette hoods were aftermarket ?? At the drag races at the same time many cars (all brands ) had homemade scoops --shaped like a cowl hood only they were 8-10" wide and at least a foot tall,,,some had an opening slit about 2" wide in the front either top or bottom ! Open at the back of course !!. I always liked that radical look and would like to put it on a Mopar for nostalgia thingy ,,,if I ever have anything that actually NEEDS a scoop ! Street usage was not very practical ,though,,had a buddy with one on his Slomaro,,,,you couldn't see a Mack truck on the other side ,,,but it looked cool !!!--Mopar Tom
