Found a new best friend
« on: May 18, 2008, 12:28:41 AM »

So I've always used a wire wheel or something mechanically along those lines to strip undercoating and paint and what not.   But I bought a can of aerosol chemical stripper, I dont know the name brand it just said STRIPPER across the front.  I thought well I'll grind on it for a while and see how it goes.  45 min into it and looking like I just crawled through a chimney Madd I figured I'll spray the other wheel well and see how it goes.... BAM! the stuff just scraps off!! !nanr  I'll still do some wire wheeling to get it down to metal but that stripper takes the 1/16 to 1/8 layer of 40 year old crap off, I like it!.

What is the sole purpose of seal sealer?  Do some of you guys leave it off?  I'm debating of reapplying it where I took it off, like in the trunk and front wheel wells.

Be real careful - - When you use a wire wheel AFTER a chemical stripper you end up wearing the chemical stripper. Safety glasses are a must with a wire wheel. I use goggles and a face shield after useing a chemical stripper. If not that stuff gets everywhere, on your face up your nose, if it gets in your eyes your gonna know it, not to mention good paint that doesn't need to be stripped. A wire wheel does an outstanding job spreading that stuff around!!! Good Luck!

Methylene Chloride.
I got a smaaaaallll amount of that shit in my eye once. 45 minutes with a water hose blasting directly into my face and it still burned. That stuff is bad ass. You can't wear enough protective gear. Works great though.
