Bob....they are the new chev trans that are computer run.......as are most of the other newer makes........big in the street rods with sbc

i have a 392 hemi on e-bay up for auction and i posted that it came with an adaptor for a 727 or sm blk and some one ask if you could install a 700R4 to it with the adaptor ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) , of course i'm not in the know when it comes to gm parts and pieces.

There are adapters that will mate the 700R4 to the 392.

You should reply and ask him how he plans on stuffing the 392 into his Nova.

700r4 is "ok" but dont know why someone would use it... If the guy really wants to use a gm trans Id go with a 4l80/E, basically the same thing just 12 years younger and loads stronger. But dont we all know a 392 wants a 4 speed?

I had a 700R4 in an 80 Trans Am. It was a little frail. Needed lots of added beef to finally stop breakin'. The 4L60 and 80's are way superior.
