Bob....they are the new chev trans that are computer run.......as are most of the other newer makes........big in the street rods with sbc

i have a 392 hemi on e-bay up for auction and i posted that it came with an adaptor for a 727 or sm blk and some one ask if you could install a 700R4 to it with the adaptor ![\/][](http://www.bigblockdart.com/Smileys/classic/finger020.gif) , of course i'm not in the know when it comes to gm parts and pieces. |

i have a 392 hemi on e-bay up for auction and i posted that it came with an adaptor for a 727 or sm blk and some one ask if you could install a 700R4 to it with the adaptor , of course i'm not in the know when it comes to gm parts and pieces. There are adapters that will mate the 700R4 to the 392. |

700r4 is "ok" but dont know why someone would use it... If the guy really wants to use a gm trans Id go with a 4l80/E, basically the same thing just 12 years younger and loads stronger. But dont we all know a 392 wants a 4 speed?

I had a 700R4 in an 80 Trans Am. It was a little frail. Needed lots of added beef to finally stop breakin'. The 4L60 and 80's are way superior.
