B/E Body question?
« on: May 21, 2008, 02:17:26 PM »

I should know the answer to this question but I want to be sure. With a E body and pre 71 B body do the K frames need to be changed to swap from a small block to a big block or  do they use the same K frame and just different mounts?

Thanks

I'm ALMOST POSITIVE you can put a small block or a big block on the same K frame on a B. The only reason I'm not sure is that I've never had anything other than a big block.

I do believe its just the mounts that are the diff for B's.  they came with every possible engine option, so rather than have custom K's for each, the mounts were varied.

hope so, the coronet is starting to look like its going from SB to BB.  lord knows theres plenty of room for either

Had a '74 Cuda with a 440 under the hood, originally a 318 car. The BB sit a little higher(1.5") in my car than the friends original BB car engine did, but it did bolt right in. Trans mount bolted up too, only real difference for me was better ground/header clearence and a taller scoop on the hood.
