Topic: Hydraulic clutch assemblies? (Read 301 times)

Maybe somebody would be able to help me here I plan on going to a T-56 6 speed transmission which uses a hydraulic throwout bearing(I could adapt the z bar assembly but hydraulics would be so much nicer) and I was just wondering if anyone would have info on if I could adapt my manual pedals to work with some sort of hydraulic actuator(I think a master cylinder would work wouldn't it?) I would think it would be just a matter of installing the two master cylinders side by side and routing the lines to their respective places and making up a little pushrod for the clutch pedal basically making it the same as the brake's. Yes/No?

I bought the Mopar Performance setup which is all Dakota parts. There were no instructions or adapter pieces whatsoever for mounting the clutch master assembly to my A-body firewall. They just leave it up to you to figure out and engineer how this master may be used on an A-body. I was quite dissappointed and returned it (I'm already engineering enough on my car).
I bought the Dakota slave through a generic parts store and it's the EXACT same unit that came from Chrysler, with the same brand and part numbers stamped molded into it (the Chrysler piece is not made by Chrysler).
I bought Keisler's master cylinder, which is a pretty decent piece that is made to be bolted up through the hole where the clutch rod goes through (as stated above). Also, it's rebuildable.
Just need to make up a braided line between the two and I should be good to go.
I DO like the hydraulic throwout bearing, but figure I'd rather keep the two funtions (throwout bearing / slave cyl. ) separate. That way, if the hydraulic portion goes bad, I don't have to take my tranny out to fix it...

Not to jack the thread, but does anybody know what kind of pressure/volume is required to actuate a hydraulic throwout bearing? I only ask because I scored a free clutch master cylinder from a Cavalier at work (new) and am curious as to if I can use it. If not, I'll probably buy the Keisler setup.

GT, I think I paid in the area of $259 for the master with reservior, backing plate, linkage, etc., ready to bolt in. The slave I bought was about $65. Application for the slave is Ram and Dakota...

MyCreation, The slave (in it's box) is packed away behind some stuff, but I can dig it out. Actually may be able to find my invoice with the info, easier. Let me run a couple of things past you first though.
The slave is designed to mount from behind and acuate a clutch fork with mechanical t/o bearing. I don't know if your bellhousing is set up for it. Do you have a pic of the bellhousing? I don't want to steer you wrong here. You MAY be better off with the stock hydraulic throwout bearing and then us Keisler's master cylinder kit. You CAN get just the master from Keisler...
Let me know on the bellhousing pic so I can see if this slave will work...
