Vinyl top
« on: May 27, 2008, 10:58:43 PM »

I am looking at buying a reproduction vinyl top for my 67 Dart.  I am not a purist but I do want the correct grain top for it.  Do any of you have experience with buying one? I looked at year one and they claim that there's is exact reproduction.  Paddock doesn't say anything about there's and its only $4.00 cheaper.  Anybody's 2 cents?

I had the vinyl top replaced on my son's 72 Dart Swinger back in 2005 during it's restoration. It was done by a local trim shop here in Phoenix that was recommended by my bodyshop that was doing the paint work on the car. It ran around $300.00 including labor and OEM style material. They did a very nice job and the material they used looks VERY close to what the factory used. I'm sure that you can find a local shop in your area that can do the job for you at a fair price and that will also use a factory looking vinyl. Just make sure that you make it clear to them what you're expecting when the job's done.

Remember Year One is simply a retailer for other people's products. From what I understand most of their vinyl is from Legendary. Shop around.
