I'm building a mild 383 and plan to use the original '66 single point prestolite dizzy (it's all I have). It's in good shape but the vacuum advance diaphragm leaks. I assume finding a replacement will be tough so I'm considering removing it. Any advice on doing this? How do I secure the points plate? What should I set the initial and/or total timing at? hey there.
i would not do more than set the maximum advance. 34-38 degrees.
in the near future you are going to put an updated set-up in there right?
it would start easier and run better for a longer time even with a stock electronic set-up from a 400.
it sounds like it will be a fine engine anyways.
take care
