pics of my new interior
« on: May 30, 2008, 12:46:22 AM »

I finally got my car togather and figured I'd show off my dash. I used an old beat up console from a 69 Barracuda and fixed it up, I stole some buckets from a 74 valiant brougham that I recovered with covers from Legendary to match my chery back seat, and my dash is a redline carbon fiber insert(the carbon fiber is flat-the black is textured)and some Equus gauges with an autometer shift light. I added the wood grain just to tie everything togather and maybe look a little stock?

Your aftermarker shifter in the factory floor console looks great, I'm going to do something similar in my 66 Coronet.

Looks awesome! I could use some pointers on wiring the high beam and turn signal indicators  Cool I'm about to attempt putting my insert in this weekend  hammer

I just used my wiring diagram from the shop manual and match up wires from the old harness to what I have now. -I did turn the old oil pressure light wire into the tach wire since I'm now using mechanical gauges.

Shop manual  Shocked I don't need no stinking shop manual, I have the internet  lol Seriously I have a color code for them all... I just haven't looked close enough at the dash plugs but it seems like I had more wires then my color codes.  What did you do with the 2 big leads that connect to the factory ammeter?

I actually eliminated them, but at the same time I wired the dash I rewired the entire engine compartment. I added an MSD ignition and a toyota alternator so all the factory chrysler electrical is gone.

mrspeeddemon,

Looks great!  I'm planning on using the RedLine insert in my '71 Dart GT (swapping in a '70 Duster dash panel).
What size are those gauges you used?  I will be using 3 3/8" diameter for tach & speedo, then 2 1/16" diameter for water, oil, volts, & fuel level.  I also plan an adding 6 toggle switches to replace the headlamp & wiper switches.  Also adding 5 LEDs (L & R turn, high beam on, oil, & brake indicatrors).  I'm hoping I'll have enough real estate for everything.

yeah they're 3 3/8" and 2 1/16"- and things are definately tight! I couldn't fit anything else in there- well maybe a toggle or two. But I mounted my wipers and headlights in the dash(look closely at the pics) which definately makes it look alot cleaner. I almost gave up on the shift lite because of the lack of room.

I don't think so- I haven't actually tested the new mill for mpg.- maybe if I coast down some really big hills it might lol
