What I have been playing with
« on: May 30, 2008, 06:43:49 PM »

I have been doing bodywork on my friends 69 Dart. So far I have done a front clip and made hemi Dart quarter cutouts. My friend did rear frame rails and floor pans. I did the front clip tranny crossmember forward adn includes entire firewall and cowl. The car needed lower 1/4 panels so I made the cutouts in the panel before welding on. I added a wheel lip cause the factory version is very rude looking. I have a bunch of pix. I do not have any before or during the front clip install. I'm bad at taking pics while working on stuff. The car is almost ready to go for blasting. I will paint the underside and engine compartment as soon as it comes back. Car will be put on suspension for me to line all body panels and do plastic work. Will be all apart for paint. Its going Hemi Orange. Will use single stage underside and inside passenger compartment and Base/clear outside.
This car will be bigblock powered. I have its 383 in my Volare right now.  Its getting a 6 point roll bar, SS springs and a 9".

I'm gonna add something

I keep telling my friend its an awful lot of work to save a roof and speaker panel Dunno

Saved a slant 6 69 dart with black interior. It has not cost him much cause I seem to work cheap(get shop to use) and the donor car he got everything for $70 and they let him go in the yard with a generator and sawzall.

What I did was a little crude but it works. I cut the inner wheelwell and bent it outwards and trimmed it. I'm gonna do a few plug welds through the wheel lip to the inner. I can say it was not pretty when I was done. I had to do some patches in there because it was rotted as well. No pics, maybe will try to get some tomorrow or sunday. I'm taking the Duster to the shop to play with at some point.

Wow, you have done alot of work to that car.  It looks like it is going well.  I always admire guys that are not afraid to chop one up and weld it back together.

My problem is I'm a bodyman by trade.
You gotta see what I did to my Volare. Its 63 B body tranny crossmember forward. I have not had time to finish it as I have been racing it. I was gonna redo the back end and put A body springs in it. My Volare now has a factory bigblock install with bigblock torsion bars. Car handles killer. I'm gonna put power steering back in, I need a box and pump.

If I want to do something I just do it, I do think about it first though. My issue is I have nowhere to work on stuff. I did the Volare in the driveway. When I use my friends shop, my car is back on the trailer and home sunday.

Track width is soo close. The F body and older B body share the same track width in the rear. I have a 65 spec Dana 60 in the back. Front is 63 Plymouth Belvedere 4 door with the F-body spindles and brakes.

It was not easy, but I have had this idea for a long time.

Nice work on the both cars.....I especially like the idea you did with the Volare.  Now you can easily stuff a hemi down into that Volare!!  Hint Hint!

I like the '63 subframe touch. Very cool F body and that A's not looking too shabby.
