http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/car/675984185.htmlHey everyone, look at this absolute time capsule! I looked at this car approx 3 weeks ago and spent 3 hrs on it, it's just outside of Philadelphia, me and my buddy are the experts that verified the car. It's 100% ligitimate! I could not believe the condition, does not even need to be painted! hasn't run in 40 years, still has the 1968 inspection sticker on it and only 5800miles!!! I wish I could afford it, we offered $60k for it and the auctioneer turned us down and said starting bid will be $75k, plus all the fees, if anyone is seriously interested I'll be going to the auction on June 7, it's a Sat, might try to get some of the parts that are laying around. I hope I do come home with it, but I doubt it, alot of big wigs will be there. Please look and drool, Newbomb

As I said this car has NO rust at all, the inside trunk floor was nicer than the body, underneath still has the original hemi muffers, all this guy did was put in 4.56 gears in a 8 3/4 rear, which is what the car came with, and there was a set of cheater slicks on the original steel wheels, boy he had fun with it!!

The story we got is the owner of the vehilce received this for a graduation present in 1968, apparently he caused alot of trouble with it and anytime he took the car out he had problems with the local police, after a while he just parked it. Then he passed away from a few months ago and the bank hired this auction company to liqidate the assets in trust for his 12 year old son. Alot of stuff was in the house, apparantly it's a very upscale area, and the house will sell for over 1/2 million. The funny part is there is a few vehicles up for auction and there is a 2001 loaded Ford Excursion with only 498 miles!! His mother bought it for him and he didn't like it!! the sticker price was $42k, so it was never driven. Go to the auction website and you will see everything for sale, check out the 1917 Model T ford, that's in good shape too! Hope to come home with something!! Newbomb

I kinda doubt it's all that original. Hemi w/8.75? I suppose there's someone out there stupid enough to order it that way or install a weaker rear with steeper gears, but....

James, you didn't see that model T, the vehicles were not moving untill sold, and the model T did not run, just like the GTX, but they said that it wouldn't take much to get it in running order

A 42k Ford that his mother buys him and he doesn't like it !?! Sounds like a spoiled brat to me. How can you just let that car sit for all those years? Maybe his parents should've thought twice before spoiling him.
Just my opinion.

I agree 100% about being spoiled, you should have seen all the stuff in the house, the actioneer took us through and said he threw away 4 dumpsters of crap and the house was still packed pretty good!!

One word: Trac-Pak (Dana 60) As I recall autos and 440s could both be ordered with Dana 60s this way. Good luck on your bidding, let me "test drive" it if you get it. (I'll let you test drive my 340 worth about 10% as much)

It's absolutely true, when the bank stepped in they just saw an "old car" in the corner of the garage, the auctioneer told us they were willing to sell just to get rid of it, that's untill the auctioneer told them what they had on there hands, after all his cut is 10%! So he's out to get as much as possible. He also told us that there was stuff packed in every corner right into the attic, and it was a huge house, He also found a stuffed American Bald eagle professionally mounted by a taxidermy, and that was outlawed in 1941! The Pensylvannia State game commision came in and took the bird, supposedly it cannot be sold, so it was getting donated to a museum, pretty cool stuff!

Yes that's him, yes he bought it new, supposed to have been a graduation present for him. We found some small block stuff in the basement but no car, do you know where it is? They told us he died from a steph infection in his foot from getting cut on his foot while he was raising chickens, I's that true? Newbomb

Please let me know because I'll be there this weekend, there was some 340 stuff there I believe I saw the air cleaner. Nobody mentioned that there was a daughter involved, all they told us was about a 12 year old boy, Interesting!

it will make someone a nice car
the guy is watching too many BJ auctions. Yeah Low mile 68 Hemi GTX , but even though it is a rust free car it will take big money to make it a running survivor, I think the 60K was a good offer
cannot show this to the wife she would want me to buy it for her, she bought a white 68 GTX 440 new

I had talked to the auction people today and they said they know nothing about a daughter or the other car, I would assume the daughter would know what is going on, (I hope!), but if she doesn't or maybe there is some other things going on that we all don't know about, I just hate to see he miss out on her family's settlement.

i tried to buy it also. He said he just had it verified and it would take north of 6 figures to buy it. I doubt its worth that, like someone else said 60K is probably in line for it. Now if it ran and had a 4speed/dana 100K no problem. I don't know why he was trying to chase peope away from the aucton.

Yeah, my buddy and I were the ones that verified it, we were just trying to be honest and I guess they ran with it, we'll see on Sat, they also are holding an online auction just for this car starting at 12:30 sharp on sat.

Now why did you have to go and ruin everybody's fun like that? I generally see runners go around $120 or so, so that sounds way out of line for a sitter. Especially one in that shape. It's a great starting place, but it IS a resto project. Resto projects are supposed to cost as much as the completed car.
