I had talked to the auction people today and they said they know nothing about a daughter or the other car, I would assume the daughter would know what is going on, (I hope!), but if she doesn't or maybe there is some other things going on that we all don't know about, I just hate to see he miss out on her family's settlement.

i tried to buy it also. He said he just had it verified and it would take north of 6 figures to buy it. I doubt its worth that, like someone else said 60K is probably in line for it. Now if it ran and had a 4speed/dana 100K no problem. I don't know why he was trying to chase peope away from the aucton.

Yeah, my buddy and I were the ones that verified it, we were just trying to be honest and I guess they ran with it, we'll see on Sat, they also are holding an online auction just for this car starting at 12:30 sharp on sat.

Now why did you have to go and ruin everybody's fun like that? I generally see runners go around $120 or so, so that sounds way out of line for a sitter. Especially one in that shape. It's a great starting place, but it IS a resto project. Resto projects are supposed to cost as much as the completed car.

That's the beauty of this car no resto needed, a TRUE survivior, no doubt in my mind, the worst case senario after a good cleaning is a possible freshen on the hemi, that's what we intend to do if we get it

I think it needs a whole lotta cheap fixes, but it'd take a little bit of time to get back on the road.

Well the car was way out of our means, ONLY $175K, bought back by the daughter of the father who passed away, that was really neat, a real tear jerker, I had a chance to talk to her and the family, I had no idea the history there,VERY nice people, couldn't have gone to anyone better. The model T went for $6500 I believe, I picked up a few parts, wife did some shopping too, also met dartcuda there, really nice guy, I heard someone talking Mopar and he caught my ear, turns out he knew more about this car than anyone, he used to work on it, all in all a good day, I chased a dream and lost!! 175k? somethings fishy. You can buy a better GTX than that for 100K. Plus why would the daughter have to buy it from the estate?

But the *survivor* doesn't run and needs a bunch of work. Not to mention its a auto on the column. If you are going to spend that kind of paper you could buy a nice e body that will hold its value.

I kinda thought it was a little strange myself, but I was told after the auction that it was in the will that everything was suppose to go up for auction, the daughter wanted the car, but if she wanted it she would have to bid on it, seems like the only one who made money was the auctioneer!! 10% isn't a bad cut!!

In this market? I would have went 75K but thats all. A GTX just isn't worth that much survivor or not. Shit road runners don't even bring that and they bring more than GTX's

You have a daughter and the will has to have a estate sale, but she wanted it so bad she spent 175K for it yet it sat all those years untouched? I'm not doubting you but something just isn't right.

The only thing I could figure is that she got money from the estate and bought the car and the cash just made a big circle. the car was removed about an hour after the sale by a rollback, you mean a check was written on the spot? things just didn't add up, I mean it's nice she got her dads car, but in that way? I guess I'm just a little baffled myself.

Might be a dog and pony show to jack the price so when it shows up somwhere else they can say *she paid 175* for it so it must be worth more. If your right she only paid 17500.00 for it. Now thats a sweet deal

'68 R/T Hemi, replaced cam: http://gatewayclassiccars.com/displaycar.php?stock=4016&location=STLall original minus cam, factory column buckets, used to be $140k. But if this is the way you go, my finders' fee is just a test drive. I know of two other '68s under 60k: one is a builder (no front end, recent field car...) Super Bee for 28k w/o motor (with trans & rear), the other is a somewhat incorrect original Super Bee for 56k w/incorrect trans. I also know of an all original '66 4-door Hemi Coronet (1 of 4 ever made) for $650k.

I can give some pointers on what to do with it bodywise, but dartcuda will have to take care of the hemi! Keep me informed on progress!! It's always good to meet nice people. Thanks, John
