You're defeating the whole principal of the cowl hood. The area at the windshield is a high pressure area. Your scoop is too close to the windshield to allow enough air in.

farmington is right about the cowl being too close to the windshield. It should be cut back some. Also when doing the reinforcment, I would go with some flat 1/8" aluminum maybe 1.5-2" wide. Glass them on where it needs to be more rigid.

I had planned to get air from the grille like the heads up cars that are not allowed a forward facing hood scoop. I most likely will not have it sealed to the carb till I have a definate setup. The Dominator is out of the hood. On the cowl to to windshield it would be very hard to determine the proper distance.

And how much gap is recommended? My new hood is much longer then my old one but the windshield is not in the car... BTW, looks good

I like your hood better than what I have.I believe I read somewhere that you need 2.5" of space from the cowl to the front of the glass.

1.why are cowl inductions considered to be a chevy hood? 2.why do people say headers are for chevies and all mopars should have exhaust manifolds? 3.Does a cowl induction increase aerodynamics?
1.cause they came on chevies 2.cause MoPars don't need headers to have good power (I love strokers with stock exhaust manifolds...) 3.there are other options that are better, like deleting one set of headlights on a quadlight car and replacing them with air ducts (that's a Buick or Olds thing, but they ran scoops anyway...)

Frankly, I'm not a fan of cowl scoops - as far as looks are concerned.
They're really the way to go on a drag car though. Your hood won't blow off, they're better aeordynamically, and they give you a TON of badly-needed clearance for taller intakes.

I like cowl hoods, but I think it is too close to the windshield as well.
