Topic: Tire Height help, yes I searched (Read 236 times)

I didn't get a solid answer in my searching on the site. I've moved my rear springs in, moved the front spring mount back 1" and will be mini-tubbing the car. I'm looking at going with a 295/65R15 or 315/60R15 M/T ET Street Radial which has a tire height of 29.8. I want the added height of the tire for traction and final gear ratio. My question is using the stock wheel tubs but just widening, will that tire fit?
PS - It feels good working on the car after such a long time. I can't wait to get this thing on the road!

What kind of car??
A Demon/Duster body style I would say, yes it will fit. Dont know about the others

In order to run a tire taller than 28" on a dart, you either have to trim the front of the wheel well, or move the rear axle back. I believe 28" is about the max height you can run in a stock dart, and even that is pushing it.

In the very first post, I stated that I have moved the springs inboard, and the axle back 1". I don't plan on having the inner fender lip either. I'm more curious if the tire is going to hit the top of the wheel house going with a 30" tall tire.

I think you'll have more of a problem with having to trim your front fender opening than hitting the top of your whell wells. here's a couple of pictures of my 67 Dart with 28x13.5'x15's.I did lower the car and moved the springs to the frame. Weight off the axels  Tires tucked under the wheel wells  |

You should be good to go, but I guess it depends on how high the car sits in the back. What springs are you running? Right now it has the XHD springs on it. Down the road it's getting split mono's and Cal-Tracs. |

going from a 28' tall tire to a 30" tall tire moves the tire 1" farther out from the center of the axel and I'm really close to the front of the wheel well opening.Mount the tire and measure to see if you have enough clearance.

Haha I don't have the tire, otherwise I would haha.
