"checking everything over" saved big problems later. Maybe something made you "suspicious"

Sorry to hear of the broken parts , BUT, if it`s going to bust , at least it was still in the shop ! Here`s to a speedy repair ! Chryco P.S. Reminds me of when I broke my front ladderbar rod end , pushing the car from the garage to the trailer !

I've got to ask, what's the brand of the ring and pinion? Also, what causes something like this to happen? Eric

I would have to dig up the receipts from 2 winters ago. The cause of the breakage is probably, Trans brake, and 32" x13.5" x 15" Hoosier slicks, 1.28 to 1.32 60' times.

The gear set must be pro gears , they more brittle . Dana maybe ? Bigger = stronger ? Keep us posted , I`m very interested . 557 Cu.In / 750 ft.lbs / trans brake /14.5 x32x15`s. Chryco

i was under the impression it was pretty common when running a transbrake. a guy i know had some one running his car for a while, the guy wanted to race and was a good driver but didnt have a car. my friend wanted his name out there so he let him run the car for a while. the guy didnt maintain anything or check anything, a few teeth let loose at a shift point, i think into 3rd, the tires locked up, the car rolled several times and beat the hell out of the body.

Chryco The gears were street gears. The 4.10 gears that broke, had 205 runs on them. They look to be set up , a little to far out on the ring gear. I installed my 4.30 gears that have a little over 300 runs on them. The pattern on the gears are centered more on the gears. I will redo the broken set, so I have a spare again!!

Pro gears have more nickel in them making them softer and wear like crazy.
Looks to me like the pinion was not in the mesh deep enough or there was to much backlash.
