Its starting to hook now. Now we are experiencing the car kind of falling flat after the second gear change. Alot of people at the track who have seen us run alot, has commented that its falling a little flat. I think sometimes it depends on where my shift point is. I just have to find that sweet spot where the engine will keep its good momentum after the second gear change. On some passes I don't even go into third gear, or it will be right at the finish line.

that 383 must really be spinning when you cross the line with 430`s. what are the RPM`s?

now you are really hooked.  so wait, you have 4.30s and sometimes you dont shift into 3rd? there is something wrong with that picture. i think you might be spinning it too high and that could be why its  flatenning out.

4:30 gears going throught the traps in second??? You might want to check the Tach on that and see if its right before you end up putting a Tach and a motor in the car, congrats on the time "well done" but do the math that thing is singing if its only in the top on second....are you sure it has 4;30?

What tire diameter do you have?

We have the 275 60 15 M/T Drag Radial Tire. So thats about 28" tall. I know if I shift below 6100 it take the engine a long time to get back up in its power, thats why it takes so long for it to get to the top of second so I can shift into third. Then if I shift to high like 6800 the rpms drop down to far and it takes a while for the engine to climb back up in power. When it leaves the line in first its pulling real hard.

11.995 rounds off to 12.00 ur mph increased from 112.33 to 112.55

Yes I know it rounds off to 12sec pass, on that time slip its 11.99. So any 11 is an 11 something pass. thanks for the observation

That's 100% correct.  11.99 is in the 11s and I think it's great!  When I ran that 383 in my car.  I shifted at 6700 rpm for both 2nd and 3rd.  I left the line at 3800.  And she would look like this!

I think it's awesome that 383 is still running strong.

Yes I know it rounds off to 12sec pass, on that time slip its 11.99. So any 11 is an 11 something pass. thanks for the observation

I think it needs to be stalled up a little higher to 3000, then see what happens. On that pass I stalled it too 2000 rpm, and nailed it. So on the next time we are going to do a good burnout then stall it up to 3000 rpm and let her rip. I believe that will help on the big end.

I believe we checked that along time ago. By putting the rear on jack stands, and putting it in neutral, and rotating the rear times, to see how many times It comes around to a specific mark .

is that an easy way to do it, or do we have to pull the chunk out ofthe rear.

28" tire with 4.30 gears and the 1.45 second gear trans ratio means that motor would be spinning  8400 rpm @ 112 MPH

well its no where near that high of rpm, when we cross the finish line. Depending on where i shift we maybe right at 6700 rpm going thru the traps.

I know some of you have shifted tooo early and the engine takes a while for it to climb back up in power, then by the time it does, the car will be at the finish line just as soon as ur about to shift into third gear.

If I shift right on the money going from 1st to 2nd, then to third the engine will be around 6700 going thru the lights in third. If i shift too soon it will be at about 6700 in 2nd gear just about to go into third as soon as i cross the finish line.
