again here is my build.....383 .030 over...stock forged crank polish and new bearing....edelbrock double roller timming chain...edelbrock torquer aluminium intake....2'' 4 holes phelonic carb spacer.....comp cams xe274.....edelbrock 750 cfm performer series....mopar performance distributor kit with orange box....taylor 8mm plugs wires....full length hedman headers 1 3/4 ..3'' out....440source aluminium heads(2.14 1.81 )....keith black dome pistons..(6cc dome)...10.1cr right now.....2500 torque stall(stall at 2900 rpm)...freshly rebuilt 727 with b&m transkit(shift kit)...3.91 rear gear with locker lock right .....do a stock fuel pump can work with this combo???please any suggestion????i want to stay with a mechanical pump.... thanks a lot!!!!!
if anything use the factory high volume hemi/440-six pack mechanical pump made by carter...holley has a nice one as well..the stock 383 pump was fairly weak
I've been looking to replace my electric with mechanical. I've narrowed it down to the big Edelbrock or the Holley pump. They are the only ones I've come across that use 3/8" fittings as opposed to 1/4".
Well, the super slick RacePumps beauty is my top choice but I'm probably going to cheap out and get one of the others.

I run the carter Hi-Volume mechanical after I've taken it apart and ported the inlets and outlets along with opening up the pipe fittings. You will probably fall short with the stock pump on that motor.
