I don't know about anyone else in here, but I just want to hear what each candidate will do and how they will do it. I dn't want to hear what either of them did in the past, who they slept with or didnt, how much money they have or dont. If they hired illegal nannies........I really dont care.......I want to know how they will fix this country..that's all.

At the end of the day they are both politicians........both of them will say one thing and then when finally in office do something entirely different. Whatever it takes to get them elected, eh?

It's not just Dems, Republicans will do it too. Remember George Herbert Walker Bush's promise? "Read my lips. No new taxes" Alright. Maybe he didn't create any "new" taxes but he did raise the old ones. Just for the record, I voted for him and till this day maintain he was a decent president. I just didn't appreciate being bullshitted. Any candidate who claims they will not, under any circumstances raise taxes is blowing smoke up your ass to get your vote. Politicians tend to do that from time to time. You have to take ANYTHING any of these people say with a grain of salt.

congress is at least as powerful, if not more so than the president.......if one party gains enough of a majority, they can push thru any legislation and over ride any presidential veto.......i suggest you find out what your congressmen and senators are all about.......is it me, or have things completely gone to shit since the 2006 mid term elections

In defense of G.H.W. Bush, he did hold off the congress as long as he could, but eventually did have to raise taxes to get a budget bill through. One always has to look at all three branches of government to really know whats' going on. I remember at the end of G.H.W's term Greenspan was a complete a-hole about interest rates and the economy suffered just in time for the elections.
