Has any body modified their upper control arms to fit the larger ball joint? I have Bills arms on my Dart for the brake conversion, but I would like to modify my son's upper arms to accept the larger joint as it would be less expensive for him to do the conversion. A-body cars in Ontario, Canada are impossible to find.
If anybody has done this let me know and show some pics as well.
Thanks

I'm not sure if it can be done, but wouldn't he benefit from new tubular A arms? Or is that a related cost you guys are trying to keep down?

Yes it is a cost to try and keep down if at all possible. I know that new arms would be the way to go, as I have them on my Dart, but for a teenage kid just getting into this stuff all the little things are adding up quick . I am thinking of getting a ball joint and possibly a collar and welding it to the arm, I was just wondering if anybody has done something similar to this. gt

Try: http://www.dvautoparts.comI got good trim from them and they have a '76 or two. ('76s all came with factory disc brakes) That's just a suggestion, they have fair prices and are well organized. The shipping is even pretty good.

If I could find a ring to do this that would be excellent. Anybody know who has them?

robx4406, thanks so much for the info, it will save my son a few hundred bucks. I will definitely put the sleeve in his small joint upper arms to change over to the large ball joint. Great info thanks again. gt

I have done this many times and it works great. Sorry I don't have any pics tho. Lets me change my upper ball joint location for my circle track racer. Heck on the left front I slot out the stock BJ hole and weld in that coller about 3/4" past the end of the A-frame. I want all the negitive camber I can get on that wheel. That is the same coller used to make tublar A-arms. Plenty strong even cut in half, so your dust boot will work. Looks stock too, in stock location.

I have the same problem.I was thinking of making a spacer-sleeve to install in the spindle to accept the small ball joint.I beleive this would work and be the easy way out as long as your dimensions were correct for a press fit.
