LA Area Body Shops
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:29:43 PM »

I'm moving to California and will be bringing my 69 Dart with me in mid resto.  The car will be around Sylmar California and I'm looking for a good and cost effective body shop for the resto.  It will be a fairly intensive paint job including patching the front fenders and new inner and outer quater panels.  Anyone have suggestions of shops I should talk to or sites I could visit for more info to help me evaluate?

I used SS Body shop in El Segundo (right off the 110 FWY) in L.A. Richard, the owner, may hit you up on selling him your car as he really liked the way my 68 turned out. I'm sure he'd love a resto type job to do. He's really reasonable about his pricing too. I had him weld up all the holes from a chrome strip (Dart 270) that ran the length of the car, repair a dent (big, like from somebody's foot) in the quater panel behind the driver's door and bring back the body lines in that area, paint in the GTS stripe, fill holes in the deck lid and A&C pillars (X vinyl top car) shoot the jams, bury the red and stripe in 4 coats of clear, paint the 'glass hood AND the OEM steel hood. I had already painted the engine compartment and trunk interior and stripped the car of all it's exterior parts and trim. Cost 4K.
