Need help with torque converter ID.
« on: June 15, 2008, 10:52:27 PM »

I am trying to find out how to identify some torque converters I have. From what I understand there are low stall and high stall converters. I have read that you can look down in the converter snout at the inner hub (the part that splines into the reaction shaft support) and it will have notches in it if it is a high stall converter. I have two converters that have these notches in them (each converter has four notches). However, I know one converter came out of a 77 chrysler with a 440 in it and it seems unlikely to me this car would have a high stall converter in it. Does anyone know a more positive method of identifying these converters.

Thanks

Roger
