Got a friend with a 71 Charger with a 72 318 and 904 in it and is thinking about putting a 360 in it. What all is needed for the swap? Can the existing converter be used?

The 360 is externally balanced and requires a specific converter that is different than the 318, which is internally balanced. So no, you can't use the same converter.
The 360 uses a different motormount on the passenger side........I think.
Other than that.......I think that's it.

I swapped a 360 into my friend's Ramcharger many years ago. Yeah, the passenger mount was different. Also, he was locked into this crazy centrifigal lockup converter that was ( I think) a one year only deal. It was for an internally balanced engine, so we internally balanced his 360. Took a fortune in Mallory metal, but it worked real good.
Years later, he sold the truck when he moved to Oregon and I saw it in a gas station having the engine pulled. I asked if it was broken, they said no, the engine was so nice they were installing it in a better vehicle.
