Damn windsheild trim
« on: June 19, 2008, 11:28:52 AM »

Well after wasting $300.00 on chrome plastic trim and s/s corners for my 67 Dart 3 months ago I'm back where I started.  When installed the trim was at least 1/2" inside the s/s corners. You can see the mark on the trim from the s/s corner.
To anyone else needing these trim pieces I HIGHLY suggest you chase down the s/s trim from a 69, pull the windsheild, install the clips and the s/s trim.

Very pissed of right now.  throw money throw money throw money throw money throw money throw money

I had the same problem with my GTS back in the 80s. I had bought a brand new lower piece (all 67-69 a-body convertibles used one piece on the bottom). Within a year it had shrunk like that. And, the car was garaged at that time.

Hello:
I have used the stainless trim on my 67 GTS since before the replacement plastic chrome mylar or whatever it is.   I have never had a
show judge knock off for using the Stainless.  I have no plans to replace the Stainless even if it does sometime cost me a 1/2 point or whatever.  In my opinion it's the way to go.  I have the Stainless for a 2 door post car in polished driver condition if anyone is looking for it in 2 door post.  (won't fit hardtop sorry)

Have you thought about just filling the gap with some silver-gray silicone and replacing the trim.

WTF....

That's alot of shrinkage, bro. I didn't think plastic would shrink that badly. I can see where you'd be pissed as hell about that.

Hopefully you find a better way to go, without having to waste more money.

throw money throw money throw money throw money

It's the same garbage that's on all 67s. I will find another solution, but I'm not there yet.
