Hard to say without knowing how much it takes to fill the torque converter and if it already has some oil in it. Just put in six quarts, jack rear wheels clear of floor, start engine and check and add untill it's full.

No clue, I wasn't here.  lol   Make sure you use an older Dexron ATF and put 1.5 quarts in the converter if empty. Put 5 in the tranny, fire her up and check in neutral.

I use type F in all of my transmissions ... if this is a new rebuild then go ahead and dump 5 quarts in it the n add as necessary to fill it up ...   if you just dropped the pan 3 quarts will be enough to fire it up ...

I have the older Dexron III in my 727. Just make sure like all have said, put at least 1.5 - 2 qts in converter, then fill with 5 and start it up and check level.

Type 4 is for newer trannys and not designed for higher torque loads. Newer fluids can go in older trans but older fluids can't go in newer trans. Dexron III or type F will work great, have beter vicosity, flow rates and won't burn as fast. Unsure of dry converter issue, haven't done that.
