Yeah, I work on these

Installing windshield at home
« on: June 23, 2008, 03:25:28 PM »

When I get around to doing the dash on my Duster, I plan to completely remove the frame (which, of course, will involve removing the windshield), take it to a sheet metal shop to be repaired and then have it powdercoated, then after reinstallation I'll have a brand new windshield and gasket to install. I've considered having an auto glass guy come by to have it professionally done, but I'd like to take a crack (so to speak) at installing it myself. Have any of you guys done it at home? If so, would you do it again or was it really just a big PITA?

If there's any body work needing to be done around the windshield, I'll just temporarily install it so I can drive it to the body shop for repairs.

Have a mobile guy do it, it's well worth it. The back is easy but I won't do the front again.

Most professional body shops hire a glass guy to do the windshields......

It's worth it to have it done by a pro for a clean install and so your feet dont get wet.
