Anyone using a TCI full manual valve body tranmission and do you like it? Are the shifting from each gear, a hard firm shift? Looking to buy one and need some opinions on them.

I've never used the TCI stuff, but if you do a quick search around here you'll quickly find that almost everyone seems to have bad experiences with TCI's stuff. Ok, Now I have heard about TCI and CRT, any bad things about CRT's? How about Mancini Racing transmissions? Need more info before I burn a hole in my pocket again.

CRT probally builds more Mopar trannys than anyone.Not too many builders will freshen up a trans after the first year free like him.That and he races what he builds.He is one nice guy and if you call he will tell you what you should have and need.I guess what Im saying is its better to talk to a guy that builds them everyday rather than trust someone that just bought one and installed it.Rocky

I've got 1 of the TCI's. Had a pretty fierce overlap on 2-3 part throttle. Got that sorted out and now I'm happy with it. I run a Turbo Action forward pattern valve body in mine.

I too was thinking of replacing my old 727 trans with either a TCI or CRT. Does anyone know if buying the heavier duty trans will hurt me now? I'm running a 383 with a weiland dual plane intake and Holley 670cfm four barrel carb, so I'm figuring I've got to be around 300HP at least, but I'd like to get the stronger trans. The TCI Sizzler is rated up to 300HP, but the Street Fighter is rated up to 450HP. Will running the 450HP rated tranny screw up my engine? What kind of torque converter & other parts should I be looking at?

I disagree. That C body would love to have more stall. The cam and rear gears will determine how much. C bodies are generally pretty heavy so a converter with more stall will help the motor get into the meat of the torque curve quicker, and move that tank down the road. I run a 10 inch 3,000 stall in my C body street car. If all you do is cruise, you might can get away with one of those overpriced sizzler trans ($900 on their website). If you start racing or beating on a car that heavy though, its gonna have the trans for lunch. Been there, done that.

I just received My TCI part # 112000. It is now in My Scamp and ready to go. I have a few more things before the first start-up. I will let everyone know how this trans holds up. I ran the TCI streetfighter and never had a problem. Thanks for the help Tony GTS.

Watch the conveter if you use a TCI tranny. Their off the shelf conveters don't always stall as advertised (usually don't) Check with some die hard mopar racers, PTC is the way to go for 727 and 904 converters.

Tony GTS, the only thing you need is the speedomeeter pinion, gear for the speedo to work and the fork like clamp and bolt to hold it in the right place for the numbered gear.

Well, I headed over to the garage today, where my Fury was getting a lot of misc stuff done like brakes & shocks, and the mechanic noticed a tranny leak that I thought I solved by replacing the gasket & pan a few weeks ago. The fluid was BLACK and there was a TON of metal in the new pan. I just ordered a new TCI street fighter auto 727 trans and Saturday Night Special torque converter, so I'll let you know how it goes as soon as I get her back.

I used a TCI and it broke my foot and cost me about 10 thousand dolllars of repairs. I now have a CRT with a PTC converter, what a difference. I should not of tried to save money the first time.

I have ran a TCI transmission,convertor,and flex plate in my 383 since 1992.I have ran it REAL hard and have not ever had one problem. Jim

I didnt say they TCI transmissions were all bad, Im just saying I had a very bad experience. Its not everyday you almost loose a foot.

I think it's best to have caution with a big block factory rated at 320-350 horses. Especially in the big car.
