I`ve just finished rebuild my 340 from 1973 . this is an external balanced engine . so i have bought a harmonic balancer for this and a special flex plate from tci .. the block have been totally apart. bored 0,40 and buildt up with just new parts extept heads.
how do i know that the crank is for external balance ? i feel no shaking in neutral but when i drive away there are something shaking ... i know it could be other things like wheels and stuff but what are the chanses for "engine shaking" ? And how do i know forshure ?

im not sure about your harmonic balancer though. My set up is a 1978 440 (these are external balance) i have the stock harmonic balancer, tci external balance flexplate, internal balance converter- no vibrations from idle to 10,000 rpm
i have the converter from my earlier 318 ... i should be neutral balanced.... i was told... the harmonic balancer is new and i mounted on the weights for 1973 340 engine.
