Wrong Jets in my Speed demon carb ?
« on: June 28, 2008, 02:04:52 PM »

i have read about you guys finding metal in your demon carbs so i took mine apart today. its a 850 vac/secondary. with the annualar discharge setup. it had a few small metal specs in the main float bowl and none in the second float bowl and a big burr hanging from 1 of the jets.
the front and rear jet #'s are 80 and 85.  now the sticker on the box and the plastic wrap inside the box both say 85 and 93 jets and 6.5 power valve and 35 accel sqirter. its got the 6.5 pv, and 35 sqirter, but differnt jets. do any of you demon owners have this going on with your carb's or do i have the wrong jets ? by the way i have increased the accellerator sqirter 2 sizes and it still has a hesitation when i floor it, could it be from to small of jets? what do you think?

I have a similar Mighty Demon with annual boosters Same exact set-up spec wize but the jets were 80-86. And it has mechanical secondaries .I am running the Comp Cams xhe285. It was suggested to me to try 22-24 inital timing. I have 15* right now.  Car is not located at my house its an 1 1/2 hours away. When i get back to the garage i will try more inital timing. What is your inital timing at?     Dave duster

We just got our hands on a 850 Speed Demon. The carb was used for a week and the owner figured out it was the wrong size. It has been sitting for a year so I guess I need to rebuild it. Cant wait to see what kind of treasures I find inside of it puke puke puke....
