Would you happen to know what the U-joint center to center dimension is? I have one that may work.

The best way to measure it would be to jack the car up and support it by the rear axle. Put a yoke in the trans all the way in, then pull it out about 1 1/2". Measure from the back end of the hole in the yoke where the U-joint goes to the back end of the saddle of the rear end yoke where the U-joint sits. The would give you a pretty good idea of the length of the driveshaft that you need.

The driveshaft that I have measures 3" in diameter and 49" from the center of the front U-joint to center of the rear U-joint and uses the small U-joint consistent with the slip yoke used on the 904 trans.

Dusterboy15, your mailbox is full. It looks like the one that I have will work. What happened to the one that's in the car now?

Well, if the one that you need measures 49", has the small U-joints and is 3" in diameter, this should work. You can use your transmission slip yoke with some new U-joints then you'll be good to go. I'd like to get $75 plus the shipping for this driveshaft. Remember, I'm going with the information that you gave me on the dimensions so if you did the measuring correctly, this shaft will fit. If you made a mistake on the length, and it doesn't fit, I can't be responsible for that. I just wanted to get that straight.

Here's a decent source for driveshaft lengths.  Looks like most of the info was pulled from the factory parts book.

http://www.autohobbydigest.com/tables.php?17_driveshafts_slip_yoke

According to this source a shaft 48.9 should work, so Ken's 49" shaft, that sounds real perverse...   Shocked  , should work OK.
