thought i had a rust free calif car untill i pulled the vynal top off. so much rust that i either have to put a new vynal top on to hide it or i will cut it off and weld a better roof on. i have a 69 dart and would like to know if i have to stay with 67 thru 69 or do later year darts use the same roof? thanks for your help

how much are you replacing is the big issue, you could cut inside the body lines and just use regular sheet metal, I'm just having the roof sealed and putting the vinyl back on mine

I did that once on a '64 Savoy with a badly pitted roof. We cut inside the body lines and notched the corners then laid a new skin inside the old one on two ends and outside on the other two sides then welded. Worked slick. Of course, it all depends on where and how bad your rust is.

i'm still looking for the guru's that can tell me if later years will work so i can gey my sazall to the bone yard. i'm glad i'm not alone in doing this job. i did all the suspension and b/b installation before body work. maybe next time i'll check the roof out first. thanks again

sdandblast it, patch it, seal it, paint it, then put the vinyl back on. Unless your doing a restoration to a 100K car don't torture yourself by trying to change the roof with a another one.

deepockets,
The roofs are the same from 67/76. What You should look is just to use a roof from the same bodystyle as yours, since a sedan roof won't work on a coupe body.
