67 dart resto progress ... PICS updated 12/1
« on: June 29, 2008, 06:22:57 PM »

So I finished up doing some mantanance on my chrysler  300 yesterday afternoon and decided to roll the 67 dart into the shop and do some measuring for the mini tubing.  well one thing lead to another at it is now on the turner and needs about 4  more hours to be ready for the media blaster.  This car is completly rust free ... I have never seen a nicer body on a 41 year old car.  All of the bolts and nuts came off or out with little effort.

This is the car when it rolled into the shop yesterday

I found some bondo and wanted to see what was under it ... just a small dent with a gallon of bondo over the original paint can you say MACCO ?

Rust free underside

and as of 5 pm today its on the car turner

Will post more pics as work progresses.  Hope to have it ready for media blaster by next weekend.

here are the wheels and tires I'm using

Hello:
WOW EXCELLENT .....I'm gonna have you buy my next project...excellent starting point .......can't wait to see what you do with it.

One question what type media blast you using?  I had my race car plastic blasted and it came out very good, although I vacumed out plastic 6 months. LOL

I got the rest of the car disassembled to day ... there is nothing left to unbolt off of the body with the exception of the door hinges, I want them blasted then I will remove and rebuild them.    It is so nice to work with the car on the turner, it will make adding the frame connectors and mini tubing super easy.  I spun it over a few times troday and got about 5 gallons of sand out of the car.   I can only assume that it will be the same way when it comes back from media blasting  throw money, the only difference will be it will be filled with little plastic beads.   I am going to push it outside and pressure wash the whole thing tommorrow.   here are some more pics

Nice clean body. I'd have been cruising my bbd sign since April if it had been in that kind of shape.

It took me about 3 days total to strip that car by myself ... It is still at the media blaster ... the guy blew up his compressor last week  and is still waiting for parts     B'ut he is the only game in town so i guess i have no choice but to wait ... I did get my new fiberglass hood, deck lid and bumpers from AAR while @ carlisle ... and S&W called today to tell me the roll bar is ready to be picked up ... just need the car back so I can get started

Well the car still wasn't done at the blasters ... so I took it from the guy and finished the bottom myself today .... 400 lbs of black beauty medium grit abrasive and it is done.  will be putting the frame connectors in and start on the mini tubing tomorrow.  There are actually 2 pin holes  in the drivers side front floor pan that will need to be fixed .... so much for a rust free car  Grin soon enough there will be some serious    throw money

more pics

Wow....very nice. Looks more like a high desert car from Az. or SoCal. Get that puppy in epoxy primer ASAP. Then your's will be where my project stalled 1 year ago. Mine is in a 24' car hauler east of town. The good news is our humidity is like single digits most of the time. Sitting here shouldn't be a problem even if it's another year.

Keep the pics coming.........We love pics.............Why?........Because it motivates the rest of us.    Grin Grin Grin Grin

Thanks, Jim

my shop is air conditoned and the humidity level here today and all weekend are supposed to be very low so it will be a few days until it sees primer ... I want to do all of the welding before it gets any primer.
