sorry, another back space Question
« on: June 30, 2008, 08:06:38 PM »

im planning on ordering a new s60 from strange. Im having it narrowed 4 inches total 2 each side. im getting stranges disc brakes with 5/8s studs. now i read you need a 7 inch backspace wheel for a stock lenth a body rear so i would need a 5 inch backspace wheel correct? would the disc brakes make a big difference? my car has already been mini tubbed i want run a 15x10 wheel with 325-50-15 mt drag radials.   any pics of narrowed 60s?    thanx

Your best bet to ensure a perfect fit is to take the wheels and tires you want to run and mock them up in the wheel wells.
Then measure the width between each wheels mounting surface and give strange that measurment.

Every car is gonna be a lil' different.

agree buy the wheels and tires you want and set them in and measure the distance between them and talk to strange

My rear has been narrowed 4" from stock and I have 15x10 w 5.5bs and 28x12 MT SR radials on them fir real nice

When I did my car I got my weld pro star 15x10 with the mt tires. Put them in the wheelwells and measured from back of wheel to back of wheel. I gave them that info and they built the s60.

Am I mistaken here or just tired, but don't the wheels with less off set take less effort to install/remove? My 15x12's are pretty close to being centered with a 6 1/2" off set and they are a pain to swap out. Most narrowed rear end cars I see are rather light in the offset dept (3"- 4") and I thought that was to make it easier to change them. Or could this be an "unsprung weight" manuever and have nothing to do with install/remove issues of a massive tire/wheel combo?
