well......ive finally tried my monaco with the new engine,trans,diff.....ran pretty strong.....but.......when the car is in neutral i have a REAL GOOD throttle response....then i put it in gear(first gear)...i apply the brakes.....brings the rpm to 2500rpm and floor it realeasing the brakes...the car seems to have no power!!!!.....ive tried it a couple of time.....and only one time the car respond real quick and god it was great....that time the car seems to have no power like the other times but that time ive drop the gas then refloor it and man....the tires was melting even in second gear(like 150 feet of rubber).....was pretty nice....ok...the engine is brand new ...we have put the timing were it seems to be ok....(i know i have to use a timing light)...and also i dont have set the carb...this is a right out of the box edelbrock 1407...... is the timing can cause that problem? ? thanks

What are the specs of the cam, stall of the converter and what gear ratio? It will take alot of torque to get that big ole car movin.

Hi, You really can't adjust anything until you know the timing is right on. I set mine at 36* @ 3000rpm That should be about what you need also. Then you can try different things like carb adjustments & stuff. Your combination should be able to burn up them tires pretty good. Jim

Start with the timing. You will need more pump shot from the carb with a spacer under it. Try drilling the shooter a couple thousands larger. If response in neutral is good, you are'nt far off. You might need a bit more stroke in the pump lever travel too. Rick

Ditch the spacer, It is nothing but a problem. Install it later if you want less HP.
