Starting back on finishing the car. I forgot how I wan't to mount the rear shocks on the narrowed Dana, and basically have no room, due to 4 link and floaters in the way.
Can I weld a strong enough clip on the floater? or will the movement bind it up?

You couldn't just go from the axle tubes up like a coil over set up would normally do? Maybe pic's would help...

Not too sure why you wouldn`t have room . I just did a 4 link on a 66 Chevy 2 with a Dana 60 and the shocks mounted to the axle 4 link bracket . The shocks in my Dart go the the lower mount on my floater. The Dana is 44" and I am running 14.5" Goodyear Eagles with room to spare. Chryco  |

Your floater shouldn`t move unless you break your links , it`s the axle that "floats" . |

46" axle flange to axle flange. 24" clear between narrowed frame rails, not much room left on the axle tubes.
OK, I can weld the shock mounts to 4 link or floaters, I thought that might be ok, but wanted some pro opinions.
Mounted to the floaters would seem to spread the shocks more, and let them work better, you think?

Explain "spread a little " There is minimal lateral movement there also . You should have limiters welded on your axle tubes . Chryco |

I mean that the mounts are further outboard; not so close that they act like one shock in the middle.
So each shock acts more independently, for each tire.

They will close to that if I mount them on the floaters. My 4 link is about where your wheelie bars are.

OK, made some brackets to weld onto the rear of the 4 link brackets. Where the seem to be ideal is at 13" ride height. I'm having a hard time finding an adjustable shock-nobody in tech helps that sells shocks seems to know anymore than I don't.
Anybody know how much compression and extension length I need? I have enough tubing and brackets left to make a new top mount, not using the factory studs. And doing that, I can move the top mount to the rear, allowing to increase the ride height.
Help me, gurus.
