Team Starfish might be at Spring Fling. The guy who built one of their engines has my old 66 Barracuda (Commando 273, four speed, handling package, disc brakes, tach, console, BUT not a Formula S). He has thought about flogging it, but the car hasn't been out in a long (very long) time.

Thanks, but that car had plenty of imperfections. It had been rode very hard and put away wet by previous owners (and once or twice by me). I put a lot of time into making it nice, but it was driver quality nice.

Oh, and interesting use of words in your post, BIG. The license STILL reads LIL CUDA.

The guy I got that car from was a good friend of mine. It had been parked for a year when I got it. The engine was completely worn out, it needed paint and interior, but I didn't give much for it. He had bought it in 1975 with an unknown number of previous owners and I bought it in 1980 only to sell it in 1985. It was sold again to the current owner in 1987. There really wasn't any rust in the car, but when I removed the carpet to replace it I found that the passenger side floor had cracks in it.

thats totally common on the early cuda's. i have a huge crack from the top of the tranny tunnel down under the drivers seat. not to mention the cracks on the pass side near the rear window and at the lower drivers side cowl/windshield pillar. couldnt have anything to do with 3 times as much grip from the tires/suspension, 87 cubic inch bigger motor and a 4 speed. By the time I got my hands on it, Jim, there was plenty of rust under the carpet on the passenger side. I removed the carpet about 12 or 13 years ago after it got soaked from the leaking windshield gasket. After wire-wheeling it, I used Eastwood's Corroless (nasty-smelling stuff, BTW), then I coverd that with undercoating and put the dried carpet back in.

Prior to this, the cracks were tig welded up by a guy I used to work with who is a really talented welder. I haven't checked the floor to see if the cracks are opening up or not. I'm kinda scared to.

If anyone is interested, I have a 65 Barracuda that is set up for SCCA nostalgia road racing. The car is for sale with almost all the parts needed to complete the project. Most of the stuff is new and still in boxes. It just needs some time to finish putting it together and go racing. The car has no lettering or decals on it at this time but has the roll cage, etc. installed. The car is clean and very straight. I can provide pics if interested.  Thanks
