I was a young Marine during the first Gulf War. Totally scared of chicks. If they didn't approach me, it didn't happen. And all b/c I was just too scared to get rejected.

Well, now I'm 38 years old and I am engaged to be married (for the first time!) and I beleive my shyness may have paid off. I found a wonderful girl, who I was friends with for a year and a half first.

My .02 is just be yourself. Be genuine. Be honest. But don't try to be someon you aren't. That being said, you have to stretch yourself to do things that may be unfomfortable for you at times. Just like that military training!

At the risk of upsetting the fairer members here, JD your stock will continue to rise as you mature and become more successful.  Keep all your dreams intact and never let a woman dissuade you from chasing those dreams, more often then not she will want to keep you from becoming better and risk losing you.  That is not the type of person you would want to share your life with, but wait until you've accomplished your primary goals and then you can explore a real relationship...as a whole person.  Don't let some dream killing harlot spin your head(s) with her charms.

well, thanks for all the suggestions. 
I just can't approach women, I'm basically scared.  My best friend in college was a chick, and that was alright, but I'm still afraid of approaching them, I don't know why, it should be kind of easy for me, I grew up with 2 1/2 sisters, and have had several femal friends, but actually approaching them is a problem for me.
I'm also going back to Germany after I leave here, won't be back to the states til may, and I am really bad in Germany, I don't get to do what I like doing, playin with cars, so I don't feel like doing a whole lot of other stuff, the 5 months I spent there before here were fun, but I rarely left the base because I didn't have my own car, I feel like I'm trapped when I go somewhere without my own car.  the only time I was away from the base really was when I went to visit her (the one in the pics) and I rented a car when I did.

Don't worry, you're still just a baby.  All guys I've talked to have the same problem as you but just remember, it takes two to tango.  The pressure to approach isn't all on you (especially in this day and age with all them diseased harlots running around,. ).  You should stay single while in the military anyways; long-distance relationships are a bitch.  Listen to these older, wiser guys you've got giving you advice; they know their shit.  Nice guys really do finish first (not last!), just keep your head on straight and try not to let the little head do all the thinking.
