I think it's happening, again. Last Saturday night at the track, a was getting a "Vibration". Sounded just like it did leading up to what happened at Mopar's at the strip earlier this year. We just had the freaking thing redone which cost over $1200!!!! It has a bolt in sprag, race valve body, high end parts. I got the list if anyone is intrested in trying to help me find out whats wrong with it. I shouldn't be blowing up so many parts. Any ideas? As of now, my plan is to pull the tranny out, have it looked at, put a diff valve body in (B/c I don't like the one in it) and hope it doesn't blow up.

He builds trannys, but charges a butt load for it.
He's been re-building trannys for the last 15 years or so.
We're going to be taking it to a guy named Pat Blais, he's been a transmission expert since the 60's and very afforadable.

Coming from the performance diesel side of life....I know guys that have been building tranny's their whole life..but they dont know how to build a tranny to hold the power of a diesel. Not trying to knock your tranny guy but to make one live under the stress that we put them under...it takes experience of drag racing and beating the crap out of one. My local tranny shop has built trannys for record holding cars(drag racing). I can have a full 727 built that will handle what we would throw at it for approx.$1000 plus convertor... This guy has been around the block a few times and has the scares to prove it..

You could have a problem with the converter and that is damaging the tranny. Was the converter new the last time you rebuilt the tranny? The vibration could even be the converter

The vibration could even be the converter But the front seal would`ve puked already . I also agree a 13 sec car shouldn`t be hurting trannies. Well ? 1st gear burnouts , or what ?!!!! Best of luck ! Chryco

Hey Martin, it was doing it in 3rd gear at the top end. Started approx. from where I shifted until I passed the line. As the car slowed down, the vibration got less quiet and quiet.
I have only been doing 3rd gear burnouts.
And the converter is BRAND NEW since the tranny was rebuilt

That will usually cause a horrible noise at idle. I have heard of them loosening up many times.

my dad's did this with his last motor, the convertor bolts, we didn't know it until after he launched and got to about the 60', he felt it and shut it down, and saved the motor for the next weekend then it went. but that's another story. Check the convertor bolts, and also check the drive line, you could have hit something to make it go off balance, although you would think it'd show up sooner. put it on jacks and set something beside the rear wheel, and watch as you build a little speed with the back tires, if it wobbles, could be the tire/wheel setup out of balance, we've dealt with a lot of shakes over time.

Well........... when I started it up to unload off the trailer last night, the engine didn't sound right all all to me. I started it, and shut it off b/c I felt something wrong. I eventually drove it into the garage where I have it up on 4 jackstands. <----------------- <----------------- me
