disassembly question
« on: July 02, 2008, 07:46:15 PM »

Hello,I'm disassembling a 68 GTS convertible to get it ready to have it media blasted, when I remove the doors should I install some braces in the door jams and across the back (from side to side)? I'm worried the body will buckle. Thanks

We've had both my son's 67 Dart convertible andmy 67 Barracuda convertible on stands without the door area supported, BUT I never transported either one that way. It wouldn't be abad idea to make up triangular braces that use the hinge bolt holes and the striker hole. Use a good sized plate at the striker. The back isn't going anywhere.

plus it's going on a rotisserie,do you think 1" x 1" square tube bolted to the upper hinge and the striker be ok? Thanks for your advice

I'd triangulate it by using both hinge areas, not just one, but yes that should do the job.
